Having a health condition is hard for anyone and even more so for a child and their family. Many children and their families have talked about stress, anger, frustration, sadness, grief, numbness, fear, and fatigue in these situations.
In my 15 years working with children in a hospital setting, I have developed a working knowledge of the challenges associated with Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, PKU, Oncology, Burns, Gastrointestinal issues, Migraines, Cardiac Conditions, and more.
My work focuses on improving the quality of life for you and your child. This may include pain management strategies, discussing factors to increase treatment compliance, learning ways to cope with procedures (i.e., fear of needles, hospital anxiety, procedural pain, etc.), and decreasing embarrassment/shame. I want to help you and your child function better (i.e., attending school regularly, supporting your ability to keep up with chores, helping you develop a work/life balance, etc.).
I desire to help you and your child manage an acute or chronic health condition. To find a function point that feels doable within the crisis, treatment, and management of the condition.
